Makeup Meets Ballet Meets Fashion ... The MAC Nutcracker Sweet Collection

I was recently invited to attend the MAC makeup special event debuting the new "Nutcracker Sweet" holiday 2016 makeup collection. Held at the The Grove in Los Angeles (on an 80-degree day) the event featured lots of pink (love!), polka dots, toy soldiers, hot pink pointe shoes (must have these) and some very solidly cute palettes.

The dance performance on an elaborate stage was cute (see video), but was hardly traditional ballet (again, see video), but really this was all about the makeup. The MAC staff was ready to go with plenty of artists on hand to deliver whatever look you wanted. I opted for a more natural look using browns from the smoky palette, a bright pink lip, a peachy cheek, highlighter and just a touch of glitter liner. My pal Amy, who I enlisted to join me, got the traditional grey smoky eye and nude glossy lip.

Overall, the collection is very pretty and features super wearable colors for every age. I actually ended up purchasing the Nutcracker Sweet Nude PatentPolish lip collection (these lipstick crayons are everything) and the smoky palette my artist (Chanel, yes that's her name) used on me. It's a great little palette to throw in my purse or gym bag.

And now let's talk about the packaging. Completely adorable and worth the price of admission. The whole Nutcracker Sweet collection can be viewed here: http://www.maccosmetics.com/

** The Cursing Ballerina was not paid for this post or sponsored by MAC. These are purely all my own opinions and I bought all the products mentioned, thank you very much.**

The two palettes I ended up getting. Some solid, versatile neutrals for every day.
